davao’s backyard burgers in cebu #bbcebu

there’s an existing thread in istorya.net about the best-tasting burgers and backyard burgers was mentioned as very lami and i got intrigued.

the burgers i’ve eaten have only been limited to mcdo, jobee, minute and angel’s, hahahahaha! πŸ™‚ one of the best burgers i’ve tasted is from bread asia and the most expensive burgers i’ve had were from army navy, zark’s and the one in casa verde.

bb burgers have always visited cebu every sinulog but i never had the chance to visit their pop-up store because of my work schedule.

but, i received this email 2 nights ago:

i had no idea how much their regular priced burgers were but found this email as a sign that it’s time that i try backyard burgers and the p1so sale was a good come-on too.

i took note of the operating hours and i went just right after my shift earlier.

the staff did not check the email when i mentioned i wanted to avail of the p1so burger – they did ask for my name though. as is in the email, i was advised i needed to buy a regular-priced burger to avail of the p1so burger promo.

i chose the extra cheesy burger which was also the cheapest – maayo na lang gani πŸ˜€

the menu:

the actual burger pictures πŸ™‚

extra cheesy:

it was really extra cheesy – there was cheese all over, yay! πŸ˜€ it’s lami but it’s a bit expensive for me though πŸ˜‰

the p1so burger: the bb yard burger πŸ™‚

it’s blah if you ask me. maybe i just want cheese, lettuce, mayo, catsup – the whole nine yards, in my burgers – or maybe just some cheese would’ve been ok πŸ˜€ add-ons are available if you want and maybe i should have paid extra for some cheese πŸ˜€ if i paid the regular price for this burger, i’d say it isn’t worth it.

their kitchen:

their space:

they’re open until 12:30 tonight but starting monday, backyard burgers’ operating hours will be until 11:30pm only.

i’ve finally tasted davao’s famous backyard burgers and although i haven’t found anything special that would make me want to come back anytime soon – i would want to give the cheesy bacon a try, one of these days πŸ˜‰

temple of leah

we went to the temple of leah right after sirao flower farm.

i didn’t know which part of the temple i will take photos of first, the place was so big πŸ™‚

the temple had a great view of cebu city:

i get really conscious when i am the one being photographed – awkweird kaayo ang feeling. but i have to be in a photo or else, it didn’t happen πŸ˜€

the temple’s architecture and massive statues made the place interesting πŸ™‚

it’s been a year since i visited the temple. i reckon there are additional statues na tingali πŸ™‚ maybe it’s high time to visit again πŸ˜€

i just wonder how it would feel to have a temple made just for you; a temple that’s a testament of one’s great love πŸ™‚

sirao flower farm

t’was one hot, humid sunday afternoon last year, that bernadette asked me to go on a joyride – the destination that day was to the bukid.

the flowers weren’t in full bloom when we visited so dili ra kaayo siya nindot tan.awn and i haven’t been back since.

i think i will revisit soon. hopefully, kanang in full bloom na ang mga buwak πŸ™‚

but you know what’s more appealing to me now?

the mountains in the background πŸ˜€

jvr island in the sky

jvr island in the sky

balamban, cebu

02april17

after getting off the multicab, we were still undecided if we will go home or not. grace and i were both eyeing the west 35 signage and khevin suggested we go to island in the sky.

the group was unanimous though in choosing to see the famous hanging bridge. we rode a hb2x going to the island in the sky. fare from the highway was 20.00/person.

i happily took photos of my flower finds:

when i went inside the white house, i couldn’t see a hanging bridge. uh oh… as it turned out, we were at the wrong place but since there was nice view at the balcony, we took a group-fie first before leaving πŸ™‚ thank you for the picture, grace! πŸ™‚

naa ra daw sa unahan pa ang island in the sky. we just walked towards the place and passed by the famous felixberto’s burger and hotdog stand.

and finally, we have arrived! πŸ™‚

after paying the entrance fee, we excitedly went inside πŸ™‚

remember the other girl trekkers? πŸ™‚ naa sad sila didto, hahahahaha! πŸ™‚ we said hi and then went on to take picturesssss at the hanging bridge πŸ™‚  spot the girls in the pictures πŸ˜€

labanan ng pag.selfie – girls vs. boys:

time for solo shots now! πŸ™‚

group shots by the stairs para makuha daw ang trees:

and my moment! πŸ™‚ salamat grace! πŸ™‚

if you ask me, there’s nothing special sa island in the sky, ang hanging bridge ra jud πŸ™‚ but maybe it’s just me ha – they do have the cable car but wala ko na.engganyo na mosakay. i did not even go down to see the pool kay kapoy na kaayo manaog sa hagdan.

we maximized our 50.00 entrance fee by taking a lot of pictures πŸ™‚

but these are the best pictures of the hanging bridge that i was able to capture πŸ™‚

then we decided it was time to go home. khevin said that we would have a difficult time hailing a van that isn’t full or if we get lucky, an empty van. we planned on hitching a ride again (nigara baya ;)) but after a few tries to no avail, we started asking the rates of hb2x – it was 200.00 until sa jy. we decided to walk a little farther basin mas makabarato mi sa unahan, hahahahahaha! πŸ™‚ we were already negotiating with hb2x drivers for 150.00 per person when giparahan mi ug  van nga wala pa napuno. patience is truly a virtue πŸ™‚ we only paid 70.00 and we were brought until sa ayala terminal na πŸ™‚

more flower finds while we were waiting for a ride home πŸ™‚

and of course, posing next to a nindot na motor is always a good idea πŸ™‚

another group picture! πŸ™‚

and i just couldn’t get enough of the view of the mountain πŸ™‚

and maybe this would be for another adventure soon? πŸ™‚

i’ve been having sooooo much fun with my sundays lately and last sunday was definitely on top of the list πŸ™‚

thank you, our new-found friends: jons know, bryan and khevin for the hahahaha’s and mas daghang salamat to grace and madam kyra kay wala ko ninyo gibiyaan bahalag dugay ko ka.mata – feel nako grabe na kaayo ta ka.close, hahahahaha πŸ˜€ i am looking forward to our next laags πŸ™‚

mount mauyog

mount mauyog

brgy. sunog, balamban

02april17

it was my first time to climb a mountain with my friends, grace and madam kyra πŸ™‚ we were still unsure if we’d push through with the plan because it rained for 2days straight last week and we thought it might be dangerous for us to climb. but papa God cleared the skies and made sure it didn’t rain last Saturday. the good weather finally made us decide to go through with the plan of climbing mount mauyog last sunday.

grace set the meet-up time at 5am but i woke up at 530 😀😀😀 i had to rush taking a bath and changing clothes. thank goodness they waited for me.

after filling our tummies with a jollibee meal, we went to ayala terminal to catch a vhire bound for balamban. we made sure to tell kuya driver to drop us off in brgy. cantipla.

it was a foggy-fog-fog-foggy morning πŸ˜€

we were dropped where we needed to be, salamat kuya driver! πŸ™‚

thank you, papa God for a perfectly-fine weather πŸ™‚

us three while waiting for a motorcycle taxi:

after more than 30minutes of travel time, we arrived at our next stop:

we paid our dues and registered:

the view at the back of the building: the river that we had to pass through and the mountain but it’s still not mount mauyog πŸ™‚

my feet-fie and yes, here we go! πŸ™‚

with kuya guide, jessy! πŸ™‚

the 3 of us (and kuya jessy too ;))

and every time i want to give up, i always see a baka πŸ˜€

the beautiful flowers that we passed πŸ™‚

grace took these pictures of me, klaro kaayo nga na.uwahi ko πŸ˜€

and it was in the gym (halfway to the foot of mount mauyog), that we met our new friends πŸ™‚

after a few hurried introductions, we decided to pretend to be together to be able to save on the guide fee going to mount mauyog πŸ™‚

it’s not pangilad per se, i call that strategy πŸ™‚ our picture together and our kuya guides πŸ˜€

because i missed madam kyra so much, we just had to take a picture together πŸ˜€

our kuya guides and another guide from another group who we also asked to play pretend with us πŸ™‚ salamat, kuya guides πŸ˜€ yep, kuya jerry also carried my bag for me too πŸ˜€

we were all hungry by this time so we had to eat our lunch πŸ™‚

and another group picture with our new friends because close na baya mi πŸ˜€

and then, it was time for us to finally climb mount mauyog πŸ™‚ this was it, no turning back πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

remember i mentioned that we had to play pretend with another group? they arrived at the top first so they got first dibs πŸ™‚ we all patiently waited for our turn and i just took everything in πŸ™‚

grabe, kanindot na man lang jud sa talan.awon πŸ˜€ thank you, papa God! πŸ™‚

and then finally, it was our turn πŸ™‚

madam kyra’s pictures:

grace’s pictures:

and of course, i savored my time at that spot too πŸ™‚

as i’ve mentioned in my insta post, with these 2, 3 is never a crowd πŸ™‚

si madam noren na lang kulang πŸ˜€

i’m so happy i climbed mount mauyog with you 2! πŸ™‚

i also just had to take a picture of our new trekking buddies πŸ˜€

it was at this time that i experienced cramps on my left knees. my kuya guide was already worried i might not be able to make it back down.but no way, josΓ¨, hinay signal wifi didto no, i just had to go back home πŸ˜€

after a few minutes, kuya decided to show us the other side of the mountain, nindot pud daw ang view.

unsay nindot? nindot is an understatement. nindot jud kaayo πŸ˜€

the other girls still got first dibs πŸ™‚ we didn’t need to wait for our turn though, because there were a lot of rock formations that you could claim as your own.

i stayed somewhere in the middle so i had a vantage point of everybody’s spot and i was able to take pictures of them too πŸ™‚

thank you again papa God for making all things beautiful! πŸ™‚

i also had my pictures taken in my spot too πŸ™‚ thank you, (instagram id) jons know πŸ˜€

and i can never thank my kuya guide enough for what he did for me for that climb πŸ˜€ he carried my heavy bag, helped me manuever through the rocks, held my hand and helped me stand up everytime i fell πŸ™‚

the rock formations or spots as i call them, are incredibly beautiful πŸ™‚

we just had to take a group picture with our new-found friends πŸ˜€

that was ultimately the most fun climb i’ve had yet; and the climb that i had friends for company πŸ™‚

it was also the most difficult climb yet. i experienced cramps and i fell four times. but i just got back up everytime i did because dili nya ko ka.uli πŸ˜€

i  felt that it was level1000000 na difficulty in going down and i finally took out my phone to take a picture of us when i saw that we were just a few meters away from the starting point πŸ™‚

and i did mention that i fell four times right? i wore this like a badge of honor. i survived mount mauyog, yay! πŸ™‚

my flower finds! πŸ™‚

it was also my first time nga maki.hitch ug ride and i was the one nga nipara, hahahahahaha! πŸ™‚ free ride for me and my friends, until sa transcentral highway πŸ˜€ salamat sa nagpa.hitch namo! πŸ™‚

and what do you do in transcentral highway? πŸ™‚ take pictures right in the middle of the road of course, while waiting for your next ride πŸ˜€

khevin asked if we were ok with going to island in the sky since we were just in the area. guess what our answer was?

a blogpost will be written about what we did next πŸ˜€

mount mauyog, you tested my strength and my will and although i barely passed, i am sure glad i gave climbing you a try πŸ™‚

Expenses:

> mandaue to brgy. cantipla

10.00 jeepney fare from mandaue to ayala terminal

120.00 vhire fare from ayala terminal to eskina cantipla

70.00 hb2x fare person from eskina cantipla to tabunan multi-purpose building

> brgy. tabunan to brgy. sunog:

30.00 denr fee

400.00 guide fee from brgy.tabunan to brgy.sunog (regular fee is 500.00 for a group of less than 10people)

> mount mauyog:

30.00 disturbance fee

300.00 guide fee for a group of minimum of 10people

if you want to do away with paying the fees in brgy.tabunan (and less trekking too if i may say :D), you can go directly to the foot of mount mauyog. just ask the vhire driver that you’ll climb mount mauyog or to get you off in brgy.sunog – whichever is familiar sa driver. maybe mount manunggal would be a better landmark though. while you are in the area, you might want to climb mount manunggal too (we didn’t ;)) πŸ˜€

canigao island paradise

friends and family have always talked about how beautiful canigao island is but even though i grew up in hilongos, leyte (which is a good 45minutes away from the island) i never visited it until november 2015.

we (bernadette, cholo, tita carmel, nate, cassy, angelo and mama) went to canigao, a day after celebrating angelo’s 7th birthday.

from our house, we went sa tiangge sa hilongos and boarded a multicab bound for matalom, made sure that the driver will bring us to the pier going to the island.

the colorful umbrellas welcomed us, and the kids went straight to the tindahan to see what they can buy:

we waited awhile for the pumpboat to filled with other passengers.

it was a smooth-sailing boat ride, which was good because we were travelling with 3 kids πŸ˜€

i could finally see the island, which was a sight to behold even from afar.

we’re finally here! πŸ™‚

open cottages wwre available for rent and it was big enough for all of us:

grilling stations are available too πŸ™‚

our food! πŸ™‚

after eating lunch, we went around the island.

canigao is truly a paradise for beach lovers πŸ™‚ the white sand is so fine and nobody would ever say no to the sea’s vivid hues of blues and greens πŸ™‚ maka.pa.relax bisan mag.tan.aw ra ka sa dagat πŸ˜€

i forgot what part of the island this was, but naay balay2x sa tunga sa dagat:

we were able to go around the island in less than 20minutes, that’s how tiny it was πŸ™‚

i was glad to see my family happy and that they enjoyed the time we spent together in the island – although ka.pila na sila balik2x sa canigao, ako ka.isa pa tawn, hahahahaha! πŸ™‚

we also boarded the same boat in going back to the mainland πŸ™‚

ba-bye canigao πŸ™‚

this trip was priceless as this was spent with my beloved family! πŸ™‚

please notice the pictures with the rates and bear in mind that we visited canigao island on november 2015 πŸ˜€

biking in olango island

olango island

12march17

tl sky invited me to tag along when she planned to go biking around olango island. of course i said yaaaaaaassssss! πŸ™‚ tl sky, besh jinner (she is from olango and our host/guide) and i left mandaue at 5am; took a multicab bound for tamiya, got off in menzi then rode another multicab bound for eskina angasil. we then took a tricycle to the pier πŸ™‚

we saw this amazing sunrise when we were about to board the pumpboat going to olango island πŸ™‚

the sky was literally on fire πŸ™‚

the second picture was when we were about to disembark from the boat. another beautiful sunrise shot πŸ˜€

tl sky and i were both first-timers on the island and we were so happy to finally be there πŸ™‚

low tide! πŸ™‚

besh jinner’s mama prepared these: saging nilung.ag and pan bisaya:

we rented bicycles right after breakfast. we went to sitio candagsao – the owner’s house that rents the bikes is at the back of candagsao elementary school.

the rent is 10.00/hour. yes, it’s legit πŸ™‚

and then it was time to go biking! πŸ™‚

we went to one end of the island and took a lot of pictures:

then we biked going to our destination, which is at the opposite end of olango:

the boardwalk:

our food:

fresh sea urchin, sold at 10.00 each. i ate 1 – my friend joyjoy said this was locally called tihi-tihi πŸ˜€

the view from the cottage of the marine sanctuary:

swimming with the fishes πŸ™‚

and the ultimate summer splash πŸ˜‰

my kind of jump shot! πŸ˜€

took a break from swimming to pose and take everything in πŸ™‚

then it was time to go home πŸ˜€

although we were already very tired, we had no choice but to still use the bikes in going to the other side of the island to return our rented bicycles πŸ™‚

we had to stop by this spot because the scenery was just too beautiful πŸ™‚

ah, the island life πŸ™‚

we had freshly-picked buko when we arrived in besh jinner’s house – thank you, kuya! πŸ™‚

high tide! πŸ™‚

then, it was time to go back to the big island and the city πŸ™‚ last boat trip from olango is at 6pm πŸ™‚

until next time, olango – i will surely be back πŸ˜€

Expenses for this trip:

8.00 mandaue to menzi

10.00 menzi to eskina angasil

8.00 eskina angasil to baybayon para sa pumpboat

12.00 pumpboat going to olango

60.00 bicycle rental (10.00/hour and we had the bike for a total of 6hours ;))

15.00 hilton to highway mandaue

optional expenses:

10.00 pantalan sa olango to bunga (vice-versa) – but we opted to walk from the pantalan, passed by the church and said a little prayer for us to be safe πŸ˜€ and going to pantalan from bunga, gihatod mi sa kuya ni besh jinner πŸ™‚

2 options and (fare) in going to and from olango island:

12.00 angasil port to olango

13.00 (including terminal fee) pantalan sa olango to angasil port

16.00 (including terminal fee) pantalan sa olango to movenpick

thank you besh jinner for being the perfect host and guide, for answering   my questions and for taking the perfect shot of the beautiful spot in olango, island πŸ™‚

thank you, tl sky for thinking of me and gipa-uban ko nimo πŸ˜€

hanggang sa muli, olango πŸ˜‰

bugho waterfalls

bugho waterfalls
san fernando, cebu

26march17

i saw the picture of bugho waterfalls last week and was intrigued at how short the drop was. thank you, (instagram id) @blissfulsnapshots for patiently answering my questions πŸ˜€

as per the info i found in the net, i should ride a hb2x in eskina balud. from eskina sa st.catherine church in carcar, i hailed a multicab and told him where i needed nga manaog. however, the multicab driver forgot about me and dropped me off layo na daw to sa brgy.balud and i had no choice but manaog. i asked the locals where i could find a hb2x but i was told instead that i should go to san fernando proper to ask asa dapit ang bugho falls and that walay bugho falls sa balud. that was certainly an omg moment 😧πŸ˜₯😀

i hailed a choppy – that’s what they call their tricycles and nagpahatod sa san jose bakeshop sa san fernando proper. san jose bakeshop is just near the church πŸ˜€

i took my chance on a hb2x driver who agreed to bring me to bugho falls πŸ™‚ hb2x fare is 40.00 per person 1 way.

kuya seseng (he said he is also called saseng) said that bugho falls was still layo kaayo. the way going to bugho falls is the eskina near taheiyo cement. the road was very abog and the ride was a long and bumpy one – i think it was an hour nga byahe. thank goodness for kuya seseng nga tabian sad jud kaayo, dili boring ang byahe πŸ™‚

kuya asked if he would accompany me panaog sa falls and of course i said yes. he said that when they were kids they would frequent the falls so he was familiar with the place.

i finally saw the bridge which meant we have arrived at our destination:

thank you papa God for a perfect weather πŸ™‚

my mandatory feet-fie πŸ˜‰ naputi intawn sa abog πŸ˜€

my hb2x driver/guide/photographer, kuya seseng:

it was very mingaw except for the barking of the dogs from a distance πŸ™‚ the trail was relatively easy but hangak gyapon ko gamay πŸ˜€

i got so excited when i finally heard the lagaslas of the falls and caught a glimpse of this:

and finally saw this beauty πŸ™‚

a closer look:

and i just had to take a picture with me in the frame too πŸ™‚

ah, the beauty of nature πŸ™‚ i could stare at this for hours πŸ˜€

enjoy the video! πŸ™‚

on the way home, kuya seseng passed by the road sa hidden paradise because the road was less abog and less bumpy πŸ˜€

i took a lot of pictures of the mountains that we passed and even asked kuya seseng to stop for me to be able to pose too πŸ˜€

expenses for this trip:

8.00 from brgy.balud to san fernando proper, san jose bakeshop

40.00 hb2x fare per person to and from bugho falls

30.00 mini-bus fare from san fernando to cebu city

carcar’s lechon and sandals/sapatos

carcar

26march17

i made a promise to “buy” lechon for my friend’s adine daughter’s dedication and even though i don’t eat lechon, people have always raved about carcar’s lechon and i think mao ni one of the tastiest as per people’s opinion, so off to carcar i went πŸ˜€

i arrived in time for lunch and went straight to the merkado and saw a lot people lining up for this:

i don’t really eat lechon but did so for the 4th time. i bought 1/4 kilo na lechon and bought rice and mountain dew at a nearby carenderia πŸ™‚

carcar is also known for the chicharon and other delicacies such as ampao and banana chips πŸ™‚

i’ve always wanted a picture in carcar’s rotonda and finally took a chance yesterday πŸ™‚

i had to ask a hb2x driver to take my picture though. a definite downside to traveling alone is you have to ask or even beg strangers to take your picture and pray your hardest that they know how to take really good pictures πŸ˜€ guides know though, which are the good places to pose and will even tell you to smile for the camera πŸ˜‰ (cue ate celda and her panoramic shot :D)

after a few poses, i forgot that i still haven’t heard mass but went to ride a multicab going to acacia grill to look for shoes and sandals that i volunteered to buy for my friends. ang ending? the driver forgot to drop me off in acacia grill but instead sa middle sa perelos bridge and gave me back my 7.00.

the pretty shoes and sandals in acacia grill, which were surprisingly more expensive than the ones displayed in colon:

after admiring all the beautifully-handcrafted shoes and sandals, i went to church na jud πŸ™‚

and after that, off i went to my next adventure! πŸ™‚

expenses:

40.00 – mini-bus fare from cebu to carcar

80.00 – 1/4 kilo lechon (lechon was sold at 320.00/kilo yesterday)

depending on the distance, choppy fare is 7.00 or 8.00 πŸ™‚
